Rosa Icela Rodriguez Delivers President Claudia Sheinbaum's Second Report to Congress
Secretary of Governance Rosa Icela Rodriguez delivered the second report of President Claudia Sheinbaum to the Legislative Palace of San Lózar. The administration announced the report's delivery in compliance with constitutional protocol, providing printed examples and digital copies for each legislator. The event passed without major commotion despite a threat from the PRI to derail the session. Raul Bolaños, president of the Legislative Council, stated that the report represents a clear expression of the balance of powers. He noted that the Executive branch renders accounts while the Congress exercises its faculties of analysis and parliamentary control. The administration announced that the review of the report will begin next Tuesday with a focus on internal policy. The report highlights several key areas, including a 51% average daily drop in homicide rates and a 1.54% real growth in the minimum wage. It also notes a reduction in public spending by 200 billion pesos. However, the report also acknowledges the return of agricultural and fisheries policies, which were previously abolished by the predecessor of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
