Claudia Sheinbaum addresses cattle export reopening and new higher education platform for 2026

President Claudia Sheinbaum reported on the reopening of Mexican cattle exports to the United States, following the successful implementation of a sterile fly factory to combat cattle bearers. The administration announced that the reopening, coordinated with the Sonora government and the Livestock Union, was achieved through binational cooperation to maintain sanitary controls and mosquito dispersal. Simultaneously, Mario Delgado Carrillo, the Secretary of Public Education, introduced the 'Educación superior 2026' platform. This initiative provides 37,503 available spaces in various higher education institutions, allowing students who were rejected by the UNAM undergraduate exam results will have options for direct entry without admission exams or fees. The platform aims to gradually eliminate admission exams across the country, with 17 entities already guaranteeing exam-free access for 2026. President Claudia Sheinbaum also noted her recovery from a flu and addressed the local governance in Sinaloa, noting that the federal government is prepared to support the transition to a new governor.
