President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presents national security report showing significant decrease in daily homicides

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presented a national security report on September 8th, highlighting a 53% decrease in the average daily rate of premeditated homicides between September 2024 and August 2026. The report showed that the average daily homicide rate dropped from 86.9 to 40.8 cases per day in August 2026. Secretary of Government Rosa Icela Rodróguez reported that the program Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro has incorporated over 416,000 young people into the labor market. Additionally, the government has expanded high school classes to create 400,000 new educational spaces and developed 60 centers called México Imparable. Secretary of Security and Protection of Citizens Omar García Harfuch reported that over 67,200 people were detained for high-impact crimes between October 2024 and August 2026. He noted that 34,353 firearms were secured, with 80% originating from the United States. He also reported that 92 of the most dangerous criminals were delivered to the United States in collaboration with the government of the United States. President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo defended the salary cuts for Supreme Court ministers and explained that candidates for the presidency or governorship should have only one nationality to ensure they swear to only the Mexican flag.
