Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin to Meet in Kyrgyzstan for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Kyrgyzstan's capital, Bishkek, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit starting August 31. The meeting marks the 25th anniversary of the organization, which includes 10 full members and serves as a forum for security cooperation, economic ties, and diplomacy across Eurasia. During the summit, Xi Jinping will also engage in bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. These discussions will address regional stability, economic integration, and transport connectivity, including the International North-South Transport Corridor. The summit also serves as a platform for the leaders to coordinate on international security challenges, such as the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. The administration announced that the summit will produce a Bishkek Declaration. The meeting also marks the end of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship, with Pakistan taking over the leadership of the SCO for the next year.
