Lindsay Clancy Pleads Not Guilty as Jury Deliberates on Insanity Defense in Triple Murder Trial

A jury is currently deliberating on the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts mother who killed her three young children in January 2023. Lindsay Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder. The defense argues that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and lacked criminal responsibility at the time of the killings. Conversely, prosecutors argue that she was criminally responsible and deliberately planned the deaths of her children while her husband was away on errands. Judge William Sullivan has instructed the jury to continue deliberations after they signaled they were deadlocked for a second time. If the jury reaches a unanimous verdict of guilt, Lindsay Clancy could face a mandatory life sentence in prison. If she is found not criminally responsible, she will be committed to a state mental health facility for treatment. During the trial, a woman named Dawn Light was arrested for allegedly trying to photograph the jurors from her vehicle. Light was released on her own recognizance and ordered to stay away from the courthouse.
