Jared Kushner meets with Hamas leaders in Egypt to advance the administration's Gaza peace roadmap.

Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of President Trump and the administration's Middle East envoy, met with Hamas political leader Khalil al-Hayya in Egypt on Sunday. The meeting aimed to secure Hamas's commitment to the administration's 15-point Gaza peace roadmap, which requires the militant group to disarm and Israel to withdraw its forces. While Hamas expressed acceptance of the roadmap, Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the plan last week, insisting that a full disarmament of Hamas must occur before any significant withdrawal. To facilitate progress, Kushner joined by Board of Peace envoys Nickolay Mladenov and Tony Blair and representatives from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey. Following the meeting, eight nations, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, issued a joint statement condemning Israel's rejection of the roadmap and urging the administration to enforce compliance. Kushner is scheduled to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday to narrow differences and move toward a concrete timetable for the implementation of the peace plan.
