Brandon William Hampson killed by Massachusetts law enforcement after being wanted for stabbing a woman in New York

Brandon William Hampson, 55, was shot and killed by law enforcement officers in Erving, Massachusetts, on Wednesday night. Hampson was wanted by Suffolk County authorities in New York for allegedly stabbing his former girlfriend, Rachel Frislid, to death in her home on September 3. Massachusetts State Police and the Erving Police Department located Hampson outside the French King Restaurant and Motel. When officers ordered him to surrender, Hampson drew a knife from under his clothing and charged at several officers. Despite multiple verbal commands to drop the weapon, Hampson continued to approach the officers with the knife in hand. Law enforcement fired several shots, and Hampson was subsequently transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, where he was pronounced dead. The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office is handling the investigation to ensure an independent review. If Hampson had not been killed, he could have faced charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and murder in connection with the Frislid death.
