Sean Duffy Announces Nationwide Crackdown on Commercial Driver's License Fraud

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy announced a nationwide audit and enforcement operation to address fraud in the commercial trucking industry. In partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, the administration removed more than 300 non-compliant commercial driver's license (CDL) training schools from the national registry. This crackdown targets schools that lacked proper space for driving tests, employed unlicensed instructors, or were the greatest offenders in granting licenses to illegal immigrants. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration chief Derek D. Barrs noted that many of these illegal immigrants were granted licenses despite lacking English language proficiency. The operation includes a nationwide audit of third-party skills testers to ensure drivers can communicate with law enforcement and understand road signs. Secretary Sean Duffy stated that the previous administration allowed millions of illegal immigrants into the country who were granted licenses without a full background check of their driving records or criminal histories. The administration is also launching the Joint Task Force Crossroads of America to tackle various forms of fraud across all levels of government.
