The men, aged 53 and 32, were located approximately 160 kilometers off the coast of Chiapas, Mexico, after their boat sank due to a strong wave. They managed to stay afloat by clinging to a large blue icebox and gasoline containers, waving a life jacket to attract the attention of a rescue aircraft. Search and rescue operations began on August 14 after a fishing cooperative issued a distress call. The Navy utilized a 'Trinomio' algorithm to coordinate sea and air patrols to expand the search area. After being transported by helicopter to port, both men received medical attention and reunited with their families. The Navy highlighted the rescue as a demonstration of their commitment to protecting human life at sea.
