M贸nica Aral铆 Soto Fregoso Resigns from Superior Court of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary

M贸nica Aral铆 Soto Fregoso has officially resigned from her position as a magistrate on the Superior Court of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF). She announced her decision during the National Meeting of Electoral Magistrates in 2026, stating she chose to take a break from her professional and jurisdictional life. Soto Fregoso served on the court since 2016, originally scheduled to serve until 2027. However, a judicial reform initiated by former President Andr茅s Manuel L贸pez Obrador extended her term until 2028. She personally shortened her term by two years, concluding her duties on August 31, 2026. The resignation was presented to the Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union. Following her departure, the Superior Court will be functional with only five magistrates. Her successor will be chosen during the federal judicial elections in 2028, as the position was not subject to renewal in the 2025 judicial elections.
