Emmanuel Macron and Andy Burnham meet at the British Museum to view the Bayeux Tapestry

French President Emmanuel Macron visited the United Kingdom to view the Bayeux Tapestry at the British Museum. Accompanied by King Charles III and Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Macron and his wife Brigitte toured the 70-meter embroidery, which depicts the Norman conquest of England in 1066. The artwork is on a temporary loan from France, marking its first time on British soil since its creation in the 11th century. During the visit, King Charles III described the loan as a precious symbol of trust between the two nations. Prime Minister Andy Burnham called the return of the tapestry a landmark moment and noted that the French-British cooperation is also helping to reduce illegal migration crossings in the English Channel. In bilateral talks, the pair discussed efforts to scale up cooperation on Ukraine, specifically regarding the production of long-range missiles. They also addressed the UK's goal of to get closer to Europe and the situation in the Middle East. Prime Minister Andy Burnham also raised concerns regarding Israel's plans for new settlements in the West Bank, which he described as unacceptable.
