A 43-year-old Swiss man was arrested on Monday morning on strong suspicion of being the perpetrator of a deadly shooting at a rave in Aarau, northern Switzerland. The incident occurred during the annual Aarauer Rave, a techno party held at the Schachen horse racing track. Several shots were fired at a group of people as the event was winding down in the early hours of Sunday morning. The gunfire resulted in the death of a 22-year-old Italian woman who died instantly. Five other people were wounded in the shooting, with injuries ranging from minor to serious. Aargau Cantonal Police reported that the five injured individuals included four Swiss men and a German woman. The shooting prompted a large-scale police response and a manhunt for the shooter. Police stated that the motive and the exact circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.
