The 20-year-old was killed in July during a mission with the Memphis Safe Task Force, a unit created by President Trump to combat crime in Democratic-run cities. While authorities initially claimed Johnson turned toward the guards with a gun, the autopsy findings show a single bullet entered his back and exited through his chest. Forensic experts noted the upward trajectory and lack of muzzle marks indicated Johnson was likely running away from the shooters. Evaniel Johnson, the grandfather of the deceased, called for accountability, stating that the guards had no justification to shoot him in the back.
