Patrick Havas Pleads Not Guilty to Misdemeanor Charges After Lunging Toward Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate Amy Acton

Patrick Havas pleaded not guilty to four misdemeanor charges following an incident at the Canfield Fair where he attempted to approach Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton. Havas allegedly pushed through a crowd and knocked over two elderly people while trying to reach Acton, who was being protected by a security detail from the Ohio Highway Patrol. Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro stated that the prosecution will not pursue felony charges because Havas never made physical contact with Acton or brandished a weapon during the encounter. The only available video of the incident was recorded by Havas himself, which shows him calling out Acton's name before being intercepted by security. While Havas was armed with a Taser and two firearms, he was ordered to surrender all weapons as a condition of his $5,000 bond. A judge also ordered Havas to refrain from speaking to the media and to have no contact with Acton or the injured fairgoers. Governor Mike DeWine described the security incident as reprehensible, while Republican opponent Vivek Ramaswamy condemned the violence.
