Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja, the renowned Spanish 'wolf boy,' passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 80. Known for spending 11 to 12 years of his childhood in the mountains of southern Spain, Rodríguez Pantoja was sold to a goatherd at age 7 and remained in the wilderness after the man's death. During this period of isolation, he developed a remarkable relationship with a wolf pack, learning to survive by imitating animal sounds and mastering the calls of various wildlife. In 1965, the Civil Guard discovered him at age 19 and brought him back to human society. The transition was difficult, as he had lost much of his spoken language and struggled with basic human customs. He was eventually reintegrated into civilization through the help of a priest and nuns, who helped him relearn speech and basic social skills. Rodríguez Pantoja later worked as a shepherd and in the hospitality industry, eventually settling in the village of Rante. His life story inspired several books and films, including the 2010 Spanish film 'Among Wolves.'
