Kettle Cuisine Recalls Over 3,000 Tomato Bisque Soup Kits Due to Potential Listeria Contamination

Kettle Cuisine, a Maryland-based manufacturer, has issued a recall for 3,240 units of its Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kits sold exclusively at select Walmart stores. The recall was initiated after routine company testing produced a presumptive positive result for Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The products were distributed across 29 states between June 30 and July 7. Consumers are advised that while no illnesses have been confirmed yet, the soup kits may still pose a risk. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, and nausea, while pregnant women may face risks of miscarriage or stillbirth. Consumers should not rely on the soup's appearance or smell to determine safety. The FDA recommends that anyone who handled the recalled product wash their hands and sanitize any surfaces that came into contact with the soup. Customers can return the kits to the place of purchase for a refund.
