Vivek Srivastav remains among thousands missing following catastrophic flooding and landslides in Nepal

Vivek Srivastav, a resident of Suwanee, Georgia, is among the missing. He was on a religious pilgrimage to Mount Kailash with a group of about 10 people when the floods struck. His son, Samarth Srivastav, reported that the last communication with Vivek Srivastav was on Tuesday evening, just hours before the disaster. Rescue operations are being led by specialized teams from China, India, and Nepal. These teams are using heavy machinery, such as excavators and rock breakers, to reach workers trapped inside tunnels of devastated hydropower projects. Over 11,000 people have been rescued so far, and road networks in the worst-affected districts have been restored to facilitate the distribution of relief material. Prime Minister Balendra Shah stated that the disaster was caused by glacier instability under the long-term effects of global warming.
