John Montoya, manager of Aguas de Cartagena, is leading a permanent monitoring of the city's water source supply to ensure a reliable water service. This effort is part of a strategy to manage the impacts of the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to persist until the first quarter of 2027 with a probability greater than 90 percent. To address high temperatures and decreased rainfall in the Caribbean region, the Advisory Office for Disaster Risk Management implemented the "Piles with the Child" strategy. This initiative encourages citizens to participate in prevention by avoiding fires and bonfires. Aguas de Cartagena maintains active measures of prevention, monitoring, and preparation. The company tracks water storage systems and water quality to detect variations and activate established protocols in its contingency plan. These actions aim to guarantee the continuity of the water supply service in the city.
