Anthropic Secures $45 Billion Cloud Deal with Nscale to Expand AI Computing Capacity
Anthropic has entered into a roughly $45 billion agreement with Nscale, a UK-based infrastructure company, to rent compute capacity at a new data center development in West Virginia. The facility will provide approximately 460 megawatts of capacity, utilizing Nvidia's advanced Vera Rubin chips, and is expected to begin operations in late 2027. This move follows a period of infrastructure strain caused by growing demand for Claude AI models. By securing this lease, Anthropic aims to diversify its hardware providers, balancing a major commitment to Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. while still securing next-generation capacity from Nvidia. This strategy ensures that Anthropic can meet projected revenues of $190 billion to $200 billion by 2028. As the company prepares for its IPO, this infrastructure roadmap is a key component of its strategy to justify its $965 billion valuation to investors.
