Liliana Gutiérrez reports technical issue with auxiliary vehicle affects Line A of Medellín Metro
Liliana Gutiérrez, head of the Operating System of the Medellín Metro, reported that a technical issue with an auxiliary vehicle has disrupted service on Line A of the metro system. The problem occurred during maintenance work performed overnight, which left the vehicle stalled between the Hospital and Caribe stations. To address the issue, technical teams had to de-energize the area, causing the interruption of commercial service between the Industriales and Caribe stations. Currently, Line A operates partially, with service running between Niquía and Caribe in the north and between Industriales and La Estrella in the south. Eight stations, including Universidad, Prado, Hospital, Parque Berrío, and San Antonio, remain out of service. The Metro system activated a continuity plan in coordination with the Metropolitan Area of the Valle de Aburrá to provide feeder bus routes as alternatives for passengers. Technical staff are working to resolve the blockage and restore full operation as quickly as possible.
