Micron Technology (MU) Achieves Record Revenue Driven by Significant Price Increases Rather Than Volume Growth
Micron Technology (MU) reported record revenue of $41.5 billion for fiscal Q3 2026, marking a 74% increase from the prior quarter. While the company saw substantial growth, the revenue jump was primarily driven by a low-60s percent increase in DRAM prices and a mid-80s percent increase in NAND prices, rather than a significant increase in bit shipments. Analysts note that the stock has undergone a healthy correction, falling nearly 5% since the last bullish update. The company's operating margin stands at 65.7%, significantly higher than its three-year average of 11.2%. To mitigate price volatility, management secured 16 strategic customer agreements covering approximately 20% of DRAM volume and a third of NAND volume. These take-or-pay deals provide a price floor that maintains margins above past cycle peaks. However, the company remains exposed to market repricing for the remaining volume, as supply from competitors like China's YMTC continues to grow.
