Mike Lindell Sues Minnesota Officials Over Disputed Recount Parameters Following Primary Loss

Mike Lindell withheld the $825,000 payment for a statewide recount of the Minnesota Republican gubernatorial primary after disputing the state's proposed parameters. Although Lindell lost the primary to Lisa Demuth by approximately 45,000 votes, he sought a full hand recount of all candidates in the seven-person Republican field. However, the Secretary of State’s Office announced that the recount would focus exclusively on the ballots cast for Lindell and Demuth, rather than every ballot cast in the race. Lindell, who was endorsed by Trump, filed a lawsuit against the Secretary of State and the State Canvassing Board, alleging the state's plan was a 'bait-and-switch' and violated state law. The Secretary of State’s Office maintained that the plan follows established administrative rules and is consistent with previous recounts. Lindell requested an emergency court injunction to waive the payment deadline until the Minnesota Supreme Court rules on the matter. He argued that a full recount of all candidates would help substantiate his theory of computer-manipulated election results.
