Christopher Boone Crimmins Charged with Manslaughter After Crushing Coworker's Head While Playing with Shadows

Christopher Boone Crimmins has been charged with one count of second-degree manslaughter after allegedly crushing the head of his coworker, Tyler Anthony Lynch, during a tree-trimming job in Apple Valley, Minnesota. The incident occurred on Thursday when the two men were reportedly "f—ing around" with their shadows cast by the sunlight on the street. While Crimmins was operating a truck-mounted hydraulic grapple, he allegedly focused on the shadows rather than the victim, moving the grapple to make it appear as though it were grabbing Lynch's shadow. He failed to realize the grapple was moving toward Lynch's actual head, eventually closing and crushing it. Police arrived to find Lynch on the ground with significant head trauma and a large amount of blood. A witness at the scene confirmed seeing the grapple hit or pinch Lynch's head. Authorities allege Crimmins acted with negligence, creating an unreasonable risk of death or bodily harm. Crimmins faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted. Bail was set at $40,000 unconditional or $20,000 with conditions.
