A 13-year-old girl, Bella Everitt, survived a mass shooting in northern Michigan after being shot four times and heroically calling 911 to identify the gunman. The shooting spree, which occurred on Friday, Aug. 14, left six people dead across three different locations in Missaukee County. The suspect, 39-year-old Chad Hickman, was found dead in a wooded area near Whitlock Lake after a large-scale manhunt. Among the victims were Bella Everitt's mother, Amanda Everitt, and her brother, Eric Everitt, who were both killed in their home. A third victim, Shane McGowan, was also found at the same residence. Bella Everitt remains in stable condition at a hospital in Grand Rapids. Family members and friends have expressed their grief, with relatives establishing a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral costs and long-term recovery for Bella Everitt. Community members have gathered at Jennings Community Church to offer support and prayer for the families and the local community impacted by the tragedy.
