SoCal Edison began restoring power to thousands of residents in Long Beach on Monday morning following a significant outage that began Sunday evening. At the peak of the disruption, 22,066 customers were left without electricity due to equipment problems and an electrical vault fire near the intersection of Broadway and Loma. Brian Fisk of the Long Beach Fire Department confirmed that nearly two dozen firefighters responded to the vault fire, which was quickly knocked down. While some power was restored by 11 p.m. Sunday, over 14,000 customers remained without service into Monday morning.
