Amy Savitta Lefevre reports that Save the Children has reunited 69 children with their families following devastating floods in Nepal.

Save the Children has successfully reunited 69 children with their families after sudden flash floods swept through the mountainous Himalayan region of Nepal. Amy Savitta Lefevre, a representative for the organization, noted that the separation of children from their families remains one of the most urgent problems during the disaster. The floods have caused significant damage, with at least 682 people reported dead and approximately 3,000 others considered missing. Lefevre highlighted that many children were left stranded, some still wearing the same clothes from the moment of the disaster. Humanitarian workers are currently addressing issues such as overcrowding in temporary shelters and the spread of upper respiratory infections. While immediate needs include food, water, and medical care, Tara Chettry, the Country Director for Save the Children in Nepal, emphasized that restoring education is a vital priority. The organization is coordinating with local authorities to provide long-in-term assistance, including household kits and mosquito nets to 1,000 households in the first phase of response.
