Fox News maintained its position as the leader in cable news ratings for the week of August 17, despite experiencing significant double-digit declines compared to the previous year. The network averaged 2.009 million total viewers in primetime, a 3 percent drop from the previous week, and 1.287 million total day viewers. While Fox News saw a year-over-year decrease of 17 percent in primetime total viewers, it still held 14 of the 15 most-watched cable news shows of the week. The show The Five claimed the top spot in both total viewers and the 25-54 demographic, with 3.184 million total viewers at 5 pm ET. The only non-Fox News show in the top 15 for total viewers was The Briefing with Jen Psaki on MS NOW, which averaged 1.114 million viewers. Other notable performances included CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip and Anderson Cooper 360, which rounded out the top 15 list.
