Mexican journalist Oscar Mario Beteta died at age 70 in Mexico City after a career spanning over three decades.

Oscar Mario Beteta died on Wednesday, September 9th, in Mexico City at the age of 70. He suffered from cancer. Beteta was a renowned journalist, radio and television conductor, and economist who spent over 30 years in communication media. Before establishing himself in journalism, Beteta worked as a stockbroker and held directorial positions in financial institutions such as Banamex and Banca Serfin. He studied Economics at Universidad Anahuac and completed specialized training in finance and journalism. Beteta began his career in television and radio, leading the first stock market news program on Canal 11 and the analysis program Vision 40 on Canal 40. From 1994 to 2024, he led the morning radio program En los Tiempos de la Radio at Grupo Fórmula. In February 2024, he announced his departure from Grupo Fórmula and began conducting a program on El Heraldo de México. Throughout his career, Beteta received numerous awards, including the National Press Award and the José Vasconcelos Medal. President Claudia Sheinbaum sent a condolences message to his family and friends during a press conference on Thursday.
