Colombian journalist Juan Guillermo Rios dies at the age of 80
Juan Guillermo Rios, a prominent Colombian journalist and television presenter, has died. He was recognized as one of the most well-informed journalists in the country, serving in roles such as the director and presenter of the Noticiero de las 7, and a member of the Caracol Radio morning table. He also served as an editorial advisor for Semana Magazine. Rios was known for his innovative and fresh style, which introduced the 'anchorman' format to Colombia, allowing presenters to express emotions and opinions. He became famous for the phrase 'Hagan el amor y no la guerra' and was earned the record for the highest audience ratings in Colombian television. At one point, he achieved a rating of 8 out of 10 televisions being watched by his news program. Rios studied in Belgium and was influenced by news anchors such as Patrick Poivre d’Arvor and Dan Rather. His son, Sebastian Rios Lopez, confirmed his death on Facebook.
