Tropical Storm Iselle is expected to reach hurricane status by Tuesday, August 25.

Tropical Storm Iselle formed in the Pacific Ocean on Sunday, August 23, and is currently intensifying over open waters. According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the storm is moving northwest at a speed of 26 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour. The SMN predicts that Iselle will reach hurricane category 1 status during the first hours of Tuesday, August 25. While the storm is expected to maintain a northward trajectory that keeps it away from the Mexican coastline, it will not make a direct impact on the Mexican territory. However, the administration of the SMN reports that the storm's circulation bands and atmospheric instability will generate indirect marine effects, such as increased sea waves of 1.0 to 2.0 meters in coastal zones of Baja California Sur, Baja California, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and Guerrero. Meteorologists are also monitoring three additional zones of low pressure that could potentially develop into tropical cyclones within the next week.
