Ford Motor Company Recalls Nearly 160,000 Vehicles Due to Potential Power Loss and Engine Defects

Ford Motor Company has issued two separate recalls affecting nearly 160,000 vehicles due to the risk of sudden power loss. The first recall involves 148,663 Mustangs from the 2024 to 2026 model years. This issue stems from wiring harness ground eyelets that may fracture due to heat-shrink adhesive causing the metal to bend during vehicle vibration. A broken eyelet can cause a total loss of drive power or disable components such as headlights, air conditioning, and the engine cooling fan. Authorized dealers will replace the faulty terminals with a redesigned, stronger metal part at no cost to owners. The second recall covers 10,001 vehicles from the 2026 model year, including the Bronco, Bronco Sport, Explorer, Ranger, and Mustang. These vehicles are equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that may have incorrect piston dome manufacturing. A manufacturing defect caused by a loose nut on a supplier's machining tool resulted in crater cracks where the nickel-resistant insert and aluminum face meet. Ford will inspect these vehicles for cracks; if a crack is found, the company will replace the engine long block with a new version at no charge.
