Subhrasree Chakraborty, a 43-year-old medical technologist, is currently among at least 290 Indians reported missing following devastating flash floods along the border of Nepal and Tibet. The disaster struck while she was part of a pilgrimage group of approximately 30 people traveling to the sacred Mount Kailash. Chakraborty had successfully cleared Nepal immigration and sent her final messages to her husband, Sudipto Bhattacharya, just before the group was set to enter China. Her husband believes she may have been near the clear Chinese immigration building when the floods hit. Since the disaster, her family has received no further communication, and she remains on the Nepal government's official list of 537 missing people. The pilgrimage, which resumed last year after being disrupted by the pandemic and regional tensions, has left families in uncertainty. While Chakraborty was physically fit and experienced in medical procedures, the floods have left her fate unknown. Her family is currently seeking a list from the Chinese government to confirm whether she and her group were rescued or were allegedly killed by the floods.
