This lead places him significantly ahead of his challenger, Dr. Karishma Manzur, who currently holds 15% of the primary vote. While Pappas is expected to win the nomination, the general election is expected to be a close contest. Polls indicate a tight race between Pappas and former Republican Senator John E. Sununu. Some polls show Sununu with a narrow lead, while others show Pappas with a one-point lead or a tied race. Pappas noted that New Hampshire remains a purple state and expects the general election to stay within the margin of error until November. Pappas has received an endorsement from Senator Elizabeth Warren, while Manzur has been endorsed by former Representative Jamaal Bowman. Senator Bernie Sanders has not yet endorsed a candidate.
