Lily Tang Williams won the Republican primary for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District, defeating three other candidates to secure her spot as the party's nominee. Tang Williams, a Chinese immigrant and former Libertarian Party chair, described herself as an independent candidate who is willing to oppose President Trump when appropriate. She campaigned on a 10-point good government plan that includes term limits and a balanced federal budget. In the general election, Tang Williams will face incumbent Democrat Maggie Goodlander. Goodlander, who won the seat in 2024, has focused on housing legislation and opposing the administration's agenda. Tang Williams dominated the primary in terms of fundraising, raising nearly $1.2 million compared to the second-place finisher, Victor Orlando, who raised $175,000. Orlando, a pro-labor Republican, campaigned on practical fixes for affordability and inflation. The district spans the western half of New Hampshire and is a reliably blue state. Tang Williams earned 47% of the vote in the 2024 general election, and she hopes to earn a rematch with Goodlander.
