President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo Inaugurates New Hospital in Ciudad Madero to Strengthen Public Health and National Sovereignty
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo inaugurated the new Hospital General del IMSS-Bienestar in Ciudad Madero, a project involving a one billion peso investment. The facility, which will serve 5 million people, replaces a 90-year-old civil hospital and marks the completion of a project that was abandoned for over a decade during the neoliberal period. Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that the recovery of public goods, particularly in health and education, is essential for national sovereignty and the well-being of the Mexican people. She highlighted that since the arrival of her movement, the government has focused on public sector recovery, contrasting it with the neoliberal era where private hospitals proliferated while public infrastructure grew slowly. The administration announced that this hospital is one of 32 new facilities inaugurated during the current and previous administrations. The hospital, named "Heriberto Espinosa Rosales," was resumed in 2023 and is now part of the federalization of health services under the model of the Universal Health Service.
