Meteorologist Mary Gilbert reports that the Northeast region will experience a series of repetitive storms and flooding concerns through Thursday.

A heat dome is partially responsible for steering the jet stream into the region while baking areas further south. Severe thunderstorms are expected Tuesday through Thursday, which could deliver damaging wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes. On Tuesday, scattered severe thunderstorms are possible, with a new round of significant storms likely to push south and east into Tuesday night. On Wednesday, the flood threat is higher because storms could be stronger and move over areas already rained on in previous days. By Thursday, the storm threat will begin to shift away from the Northeast, though isolated flooding issues remain possible in southern New England, eastern New York, and New Jersey. Stronger storms with promising damaging winds and hail will focus on the Mid-Atlantic. The region is expected to dry out by Friday.
