Defense attorney Petar Sekulic stated that Høiby is being given the opportunity to participate in the natural parts of the program. The Oslo police approved the request, and the prosecution found reason to grant the exit from house arrest for the ceremony. Høiby was released from prison to house arrest with electronic monitoring in July. He was sentenced to four years in prison in June by the Oslo District Court for two counts of rape, assaulting a former girlfriend, and several other offenses. While his legal team is appealing the sentence, Høiby has denied the most serious charges, including the rape convictions, but admitted guilt on lesser offenses.
