More than two million people attended the and celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Notting Hill Carnival in West London. The event, recognized as Europe's largest street festival, featured Caribbean music, food, and costumes. Police reported that the festival passed largely without incident, though 560 arrests were made over the two main days. These arrests included offenses such as drug possession, weapon possession, and assaults. Two knife assaults occurred during the event, but neither resulted in life-threatening injuries. One man in his 20s was confirmed dead after fleeing from police and entering a canal near Meanwhile Gardens. Following the festivities, an overnight operation involving 200 staff and 30 waste vehicles cleared more than 300 tonnes of waste from the streets. The council is providing a free cleaning service for residential basements and frontages. Street washing teams will continue to work throughout the week to restore the area to normal.
