Nvidia optimizes hardware for Chinese AI models to maintain global dominance as the administration considers new semiconductor tariffs.

Nvidia is bolstering support for Chinese artificial intelligence models, such as DeepSeek and Qwen, to ensure its hardware remains the preferred infrastructure for global developers. While U.S. lawmakers express concern over the adoption of Chinese models, the company is optimizing its systems to ensure that American technology stacks remain the primary choice for developers worldwide. Nvidia reported better-than-expected second-quarter results and issued a revenue guidance that topped estimates, leading to a rise in shares. Despite the muted contribution from China in the second quarter, the company remains upbeat on global demand, with CEO Jensen Huang stating that actual demand is significantly higher than the 70% revenue growth forecast for the 2028 financial year. The administration announced that it is considering new tariffs on U.S. semiconductors. Meanwhile, Nvidia warned that regulatory restrictions on open-source models originating in China could have a material impact on its business, urging policymakers to avoid premature restrictions on models that can be self-hosted by developers.
