Jesus Acosta arrested for two fatal shootings in Brooklyn and the Bronx

The NYPD arrested 31-year-old Jesus Acosta following a week-long manhunt for two fatal shootings occurring in Brooklyn and the Bronx. Acosta, a parolee, allegedly shot and killed 44-year-old MD Yousuf at a restaurant in Brownsville on Sunday. He is also accused of entering a bodega in the Bronx on Tuesday, where he allegedly killed 33-year-old Tayvon Shuler and stole money from the register. Prosecutors revealed that Acosta acted with particular cruelty, reaching into Shuler's bag to steal an item while the victim was still alive on the floor. Acosta was held without bail and ordered to return to court on Thursday. He has a history of 13 prior arrests, including a 10-year prison sentence for a previous shooting. The United Bodegas of America has expressed satisfaction with the arrest but is urging lawmakers to install panic buttons in bodegas to improve worker safety.
