The New York Police Department is investigating a video of three people emerging from a manhole near Penn Station at 32nd Street and 7th Avenue. The footage, posted to TikTok, shows three individuals in overalls and headlamps climbing out of the sewer at approximately 4 a.m. on August 18. Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred months after similar sightings in Brooklyn and Queens earlier this year. While the specific reason for the underground activity remains unclear, law enforcement officials suggest the individuals may have been scavenging for valuables such as coins or jewelry. The Department of Environmental Protection inspected the area and reported no structural damage to the sewer system. Officials warned that while the activity is intriguing, entering the sewer system is both illegal and extremely dangerous due to hazards like noxious gases and unstable surfaces. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
