David Lundy leads a private venture to create a 15-minute high-speed rail connection between downtown Chicago and O'Hare Airport.

David Lundy, CEO of the O'Hare Flyer, announced a new private rail project designed to connect downtown Chicago to O'Hare International Airport in just 15 minutes. The project aims to utilize existing freight rail lines to create a faster, more reliable alternative to the current CTA Blue Line service. Led by a team of industry professionals including Mark Walbrun, the $2.25 billion initiative will feature battery-powered trains traveling at speeds up to 80 mph. The O'Hare Flyer will operate on dedicated tracks, requiring only 1.5 miles of new construction and a few miles of expanded tracks. The administration of Mayor Brandon Johnson expressed confidence in the private investment, noting that the project could be completed within five years. The project is privately funded, meaning it will not require government funding. If approved, the trains will run every 15 minutes between 4 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily. Business leaders, such as Phil Clement, believe the investment will strengthen Chicago's competitive position in business and tourism.
