A beloved local peacock named Sugar is showing signs of recovery after being allegedly struck by a mail carrier in East Pasadena. Resident Gina Davis noted that the bird, which is well-known by the neighborhood, was discovered after a mail carrier allegedly threw a rock at it and then struck it with a stick near a truck. Kevin McManus, a spokesperson for Pasadena Humane, confirmed that X-rays of the bird indicate no broken bones. The peacock is currently eating and walking around, and the administration of Pasadena Humane is investigating the incident. The U.S. Postal Service has acknowledged the allegations of inappropriate conduct and stated they will take appropriate action. While the peacock remains under observation, officials are optimistic that Sugar will be released back into the wild. Neighbors are encouraged to have provided video footage of the incident to help with the ongoing investigation.
