Aarau Cantonal Police reported that one person was killed and five others were wounded after shots were fired during a rave event in the town of Aarau, northern Switzerland. The incident occurred at the schema horse racing track before 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, where approximately 3,500 people were attending the annual techno party. Police spokesperson Vanessa Rumpold stated that several shots were fired within a large group of people, prompting a large-scale police response. A video released by the Swiss newspaper Blick features around 10 shots from near the scene of the crime. Authorities have cordoned off a large area around the venue and have asked the public to stay away. The shooter’s motive and the exact circumstances of the incident remain unclear as the search for the perpetrators continues. While Switzerland has a high rate of gun ownership, violent shootings are generally rare.
