Francisco Rodríguez Morales, father of a missing Ayotzinapa student, dies after nearly 12 years of searching for his son.

Francisco Rodríguez Morales died in the early hours of Friday in the community of Omeapa, Guerrero. He was the father of Everardo Rodríguez Bello, one of the 43 students from the Normal Rural de Ayotzinapa who disappeared in 2014. His death marks the seventh parent to pass away without knowing the final whereabouts of their child. Felipe de la Cruz Sandoval, a spokesperson for the parents' collective, noted that the deaths are often caused by the worsening of illnesses aggravated by the emotional exhaustion of a decade-long search. The case is considered a crime of the state, involving the three levels of government and the military. While the families continue to manage the and seek justice, the case remains open. Francisco Rodríguez Morales was the husband of Minerva Bello Guerrero, who also died in 2018. The families recently rejected a report from the National Human Rights Commission, which they felt downplayed the military's involvement in the events.
