Sarah Friar projects OpenAI public debut by 2027 as company narrows market share gap with Anthropic

OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar informed employees that the company aims to become a public entity by 2027, though a sooner debut is possible if business growth continues to accelerate. While Anthropic currently holds a larger share of the paying business market among Ramp users, Sarah Friar noted that OpenAI is growing faster in the third quarter. Recent data from Ramp shows OpenAI is gaining ground on its primary rival. Despite Anthropic's current lead, OpenAI's revenue run rate has reached $40 billion annually. In contrast, Anthropic reported an annualized revenue run rate of $65 billion at the end of July. Sarah Friar emphasized that the company is running its own race, remaining confident despite executive turnover and competition from lower-cost models. The administration of the company is currently managing an $852 billion valuation as it prepares for its public market debut.
