Octavio Romero Oropeza classifies personal asset declaration as confidential to limit public access to financial data

Octavio Romero Oropeza, the Director General of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit), has ordered the classification of his personal asset declaration as confidential. This decision prevents the public from consulting his specific income, properties, bank accounts, and other financial data on official platforms. The Infonavit Transparency Committee validated this classification following a request for a copy of the declaration from a private individual. The reserved information includes the types of assets owned, their extent, acquisition methods, and values, as well as vehicles, jewelry, works of art, and household items. The committee also classified pension amounts, royalties, interest, dividends, and other income as confidential. This confidentiality extends to the patrimonial data of his spouse and economic dependents. The last public declaration of assets for Octavio Romero Oropeza was from 2024, during his tenure as Director General of Pemex. In that declaration, he reported a salary of 3.2 million pesos and 846,828 pesos from business activities. He also declared ownership of a house, two apartments, two plots of land, and various bank accounts and credit cards.
