Robert Brovdi Defends Use of Drone Footage to Mock Russian Soldiers as a Tool for Demoralizing the Enemy
Robert Brovdi, the head of Ukraine’s unmanned systems forces, defended the use of battlefield drone footage to mock Russian soldiers during the invasion of Ukraine. The videos, known as 'yoblyks,' capture kamikaze drones chasing Russian personnel to their deaths, often highlighting moments where soldiers appear helpless or tricked by their commanders. Brovdi and his military editor, Catman, argue that the footage serves as a potent propaganda weapon to demoralize the Russian military. By showing the soldiers as 'banal donkey men' carrying provisions, the videos reveal the true cost of the Kremlin's unprovoked war. While some Western observers may find the footage somewhat dehumanizing, Brovdi noted that those who have experienced real physical pain from the war would have little reason to feel morally dubious about the enemy's fate. The footage also serves as a practical tool for verifying Russian losses, which currently exceed 30,000 soldiers a month.
