Royce Moser and Rachel Moser Charged in Homicide of College Soccer Player Karoline Heintz

Royce Moser and Rachel Moser face criminal charges following the death of Karoline Heintz, an 18-year-old college soccer player. Heintz was found dead in the back hatch of her Jeep Cherokee near the California Borough Library at approximately 12:24 a.m. on Thursday. Investigators determined that Royce Moser stabbed Heintz in the chest during a domestic argument at his father's residence. According to the criminal complaint, Royce Moser claimed a "demon" took over during the altercation, prompting him to use a kitchen knife to strike the victim. Following the stabbing, Rachel Moser assisted her son in cleaning the crime scene, using disinfectant spray and latex gloves to remove blood stains from the vehicle. The pair then drove the Jeep to the California Borough area to be discovered by Heintz's family. Both suspects were denied bail on August 20. Royce Moser is charged with homicide and several counts related to tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice. Rachel Moser is charged with hindering the apprehension of a fugitive and abuse of a corpse.
