The incident occurred on August 14, when Greg Medina was relaxing in a jacuzzi at the complex while listening to music. One of the teenagers kicked Greg Medina in the back of the head, causing a concussion and knocking his glasses and headphones into the water. Simultaneously, the other teenager stole Greg Medina's $800 cellphone before both fled the scene. San Bernardino Police Department officials confirmed that surveillance footage helped identify the suspects. Greg Medina, a chef at a nonprofit, reported being diagnosed with post-concussion disorder following the attack.
